چکیده

The exact knowledge of the mandibular canal position is fundamental in oral surgery and implantology. Clinicians have to be extremely cautious when operating close proximity this structure order avoid damaging neurovascular bundle. Several anatomical variations been described literature, such as bifid or trifid structures. use cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) offers a detailed representation inferior alveolar nerve path, albeit with some difficulties identification dental implants metal prosthesis are present. aim study retrospectively evaluate prevalence location bifid/trifid canals (BMC/TMC) by CBCT Italian patients. screening phase involved 584 patients, only 238 enrolled (97 men; 141 women), an average age 51 ± 17.20. A total 36 patients (15.25%) showed at least one canal; 2 (0.84%) canal. Overall, 12 (5.04%) presented variation bilaterally. There was no association sex sample. In conclusion, presence BMCs TMCs may considered risk factor for onset complications. Being aware changes helps clinicians prevent impairments that occur during

Assessment of bifid and trifid mandibular canals using cone-beam computed tomography

PURPOSE To investigate the prevalence of bifid and trifid mandibular canals using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images, and to measure their length, diameter, and angle. MATERIALS AND METHODS CBCT images of 500 patients, involving 755 hemi-mandibles, were used for this study. The presence and type of bifid mandibular canal was evaluated according to a modified classification of Naitoh ...

Classification of bifid mandibular canals using cone beam computed tomography.

The objective of this study was to classify the morphology of bifid mandibular canals and to evaluate their relationship with the roots of third molars, using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans. The CBCT scans of 75 patients were analyzed and the bifurcations were classified according to Langlais et al. (1985). The relationship of bifurcation and third molars was established according t...

Frequency of Bifid Mandibular Canals and Their Relationship with the Mandibular Third Molar Teeth: A Cone Beam Computed Tomography Analysis of an Iranian Population

Introduction: Considering the importance of avoiding the outcomes of injury to the inferior alveolar nerve and its accessory branches, the present study was conducted with the purpose of determining the frequency of bifid mandibular canals using cone beam computed tomography images in an Iranian population. Materials and methods: In this cross sectional study, 221 CBCT images were evaluated ...

Cone Beam Computed Tomographic Assessment of Bifid Mandibular Condyle

OBJECTIVES Differential diagnosis of bifid mandibular condyle (BMC) is important, since it may play a role in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunctions and joint symptoms. In addition, radiographic appearance of BMC may mimic tumors and/or fractures. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence and orientation of BMC based on cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans. MATERIALS AND ...
